When to Book a Valentines Day Photoshoot
So that question depends on whether or not you want to be able to post or print your photos by Valentines Day, or if you want to have your photoshoot done on Valentines Day.
If you want your Valentines Day to happen ON Valentines Day, then it’s important to book your photographer as early as possible. Valentines Day is only one day out of the year, so photographers get booked out fast.
If you want to post your photos by Valentines Day, then you’ll want to make sure your photoshoot occurs at least 3 weeks before Valentines Day. That way your photographer has time to edit the photos and deliver them.
If you want to print or mail out your Valentines Day photos, then you’ll want to make sure you photoshoot occurs at least 6 or 7 weeks in advanced.
No matter what you want to do with your valentines day photos, the latest you should book your session by is January 31st.

1. Rent a Classic Car
Classic cars and Los Angeles go hand in hand. Rent a classic car and have your photos done in classic spots around Malibu. Popular spots are along PCH, Point Dume, and along Mulholland Rd. And the best part, the Mulholland Snake finally reopened for the first time since 2018.

2. Sailboat Photoshoot
To me, booking a sailboat photoshoot is top tier romance. Imagine packing a picnic, floating out on the ocean with your love, and immortalizing the experience with a photoshoot.
This type of photoshoot, I’ve found, works best in the morning before the wind picks up.

3. Visit the Snow
Depending on if there was recent snowfall or not, you could have your photoshoot at a winter wonderland location.
While Los Angeles doesn’t necessarily get a ton of snow, there are beautiful mountains that surround Los Angeles that get snowfall. Here are some favorites:
Mt. Baldy: 50 miles from DTLA
Lake Arrowhead: 80 miles from DTLA
Mt. Pinos: 82 miles from DTLA
Big Bear Lake: 97 miles from DTLA
4. Romantic Sunset Beach Photoshoot
LA County has several beaches within it’s district! Why not take a drive down the coast and stop to have a gorgeous sunset beach photoshoot!
Malibu, specifically, is home to the absolute best beaches in LA County! Here are the best beaches:
El Matador State Beach: The most popular photoshoot location in Malibu!
Point Dume State Beach: Another super popular photoshoot location.
Leo Carrillo State Beach: My personal favorite photoshoot location.

5. A Photoshoot in the City
There are so many great places to take photos in the city! No matter where you choose to have your photoshoot the photos will be absolutely stunning.
Imagine doing your photoshoot on a rooftop with a view of Downtown LA, or taking a walk along the sleek halls of the Griffith Observatory, or maybe even posing in front of the iconic Pasadena City Hall!
6. Romantic Picnic
One of the most romantic activities you can do during your Valentines Day photoshoot is to either hire a professional picnic company, or pack one yourself!
There are tons of professional picnic companies that service the LA area. A great way to find one is by searching through instagram.
