Whether you're planning a professional photoshoot or just soaking up a summer day among the blooms, a little prep can go a long way. Here are some easy tips to help you make the most of your lavender field visit:
Choose the right farm: Look for farms that offer “U-pick” experiences, festivals, or shaded picnic areas so you can enjoy more than just a quick stroll through the flowers.
Watch for bees: Lavender naturally attracts bees, but they’re usually calm and focused on the flowers. Avoid strong perfumes and stay respectful of their space.
Wear the right shoes: Fields can be uneven, dusty, or full of loose gravel. Closed-toe shoes or flat sandals are a much better choice than thin heels.
Dress in layers: Summer days can start cool and heat up quickly. A lightweight sweater, denim jacket, or oversized button-down can help you stay comfortable.
Bring water and snacks: Most lavender farms are rural and might not have food options nearby. Pack a reusable water bottle and a few light bites, especially if you’re bringing kids.
