A Glowing, Creekside Maternity Session | Thousand Oaks, CA
This Post May Contain Affiliate LinksIt has been rainy and chilly these past few winters in Southern California, and 2024 is continuing that trend. Believe it or not, the beaches in Malibu are actually great locations for winter photoshoots. However, I’ve been trying to find locations away from the beach, farther inland where there’s trees, greenery, and (eventually) flowers. The struggle I faced with this session, is that it was scheduled for mid-February, and all of my favorite locations were dormant.
I had gone on a scouting expedition during the summer, so I knew of Conejo Creek Park. It’s a beautiful park, nestled just behind the Thousand Oaks library. I remembered there were evergreen trees there, so it definitely would have greenery!
I was so excited to do this session for the this sweet family! Mom had originally reached out to me for a Newborn session, and was going to skip Maternity since she was so close to her due date and wasn’t sure if baby girl was going to hold out for that long. I told her I didn’t want her to miss out on the opportunity for professional pregnancy photos if she didn’t want to, and that I was more than happy to set something up that week! And I’m so happy she agreed!
I created a Style Board for the entire family and brought several dresses from my Client Closet for Mom to choose from. She chose this pretty, neutral, empire waist dress from Morning Lavender and gold jewelry accents. Mom was able to select outfits from her families closet that suited the style board I sent her. You’d never know this session was put together so last minute!
